An active member of Professional associations, he lectured on Wildlife conservation and tourism at Universities, colleges, schools and associations and clubs around the world. Pradeep was a well respected conservationist and was the chairman of Tiger Trust in India.
Mr. Pradeep Sankhala comes from the famous Sankhala family who have spent all their life for Tiger conservation. His father - the late Mr. Kailash Sankhala was the Founder Director of "Project Tiger" (1972), known as the "Tiger Man of India". His role as the founder Director of "Project Tiger", meant to protect and increase this predator species, was exemplary. He became Director of the Delhi Zoological Park and later Rajasthan's Chief Wildlife Warden.
He had authored many books, some on the Tiger as well.. National Parks (1969) Wild Beauty (1973) Tigerland(1977) Tiger ! The Story of the Indian Tiger (1978) Gardens of God (1990)
The Government of India has instituted the National Fellowship for research on Wildlife and Stare Award for Wildlife conservation by Rajasthan Government dedicated to Kailash Sankhala along with dedicating the Interpretation center at Sariska National Park to his name. There are many annual conservation programs and centers also dedicated to him.
Today, Bandhavgarh Jungle Lodge and Kanha Jungle Lodge are managed by Pradeep's son - Amit Sankhala (grandson of Kailash Sankhala) who with his boundless enthusiasm and charm owns, operates and manages both the Jungle Lodges. With his vast knowledge and interest in the field of eco tourism, he continues the legacy of conservation and wildlife tourism. Amit is the Managing Director of Tiger Resorts Pvt.Ltd and Indian Nature Expeditions.
Located at Mukki (in the Balaghat District) amidst Sal forests, the lodge is about one kilometer from the Kanha National Parks Mukki entrance and thus designed as a jungle lodge, well camouflaged in the forest.
It is tastefully developed with low impact on the land and environment with 18 spacious rooms and two independent deluxe cottages, equipped with a portico canopy, under which you can relax. The rooms are fully furnished with double/twin share beds, and have attached bathrooms with running hot water. A spacious thatched dining room which serves home cooked Indian food and Continental cuisines, becomes the centre point for activities such as campfire performances, lectures and star gazing.
Since it is located close to Kanha National Park and is the closest to the Mukki entrance gate, guests can listen to the sounds of the Jungle right in their backyards! Several species of birds, the alarm calls of deer and the occasional roar of the tiger can be heard here.
The lodge has set strong principles of being environmentally friendly and every aspect of its development and operation is sensitively synthesized towards nature conservation. The estate has a lot of trees and bushes that attract a variety of birds, butterflies and insects. We can proudly say that not even 1 tree was cut during the construction of the lodge. In fact one room has a tree growing through it.

Jungle Safaris are organized by 4 x 4 jeep vehicles, open from all sides to give you a panoramic unobstructed view of the landscape, to catch every bird or animal that may just sneak into the grass and to listen to the sounds of nature whether it be mating calls, alarm calls, distress call or just a casual roar. The Vehicles are extremely quiet and do not disturb the peaceful jungle environment and allows us to listen to Jungle sounds and photographs with great amount of ease. There are two jungle excursions at Dawn and Dusk which are conducted. The jungle safari are accompanied by a forest guide and last for 3-4 hours each. During the jungle excursion there is always a good chance to see many animals including rare animals such as Royal Bengal Tiger, leopard, Indian bison (Gaur) , barasingha (swamp deer) and wild dogs to name a few.

Elephant excursions:
We organize excursions by elephants , subject to availability by the Park Authorities , to enable to get close to the animals, especially the Tigers, incase we have missed seeing them from our jeeps ( as it enable us to trek in the forest on Jungle roads).
It is also a great experience of riding an elephant through the Indian Jungle, thru thick bamboo forest, streams, and meadows. It is one of the best transport systems that exist today in areas inaccessible by man. They are unique and easily accepted by the animals world as part of them and thus allow the elephants a close proximity. Apart from the morning "tiger show" on the elephant ride , there is also the possibility of visiting elephant camps in the afternoon.
